i am thankful

when all is said and done, i have a lot to be thankful for this year.

logan. i just can't put into words how thankful i am to have him in our lives. a healthy, happy, beautiful baby boy. people kept telling us we wouldn't remember life before him. they were right. i hope i never come to a day when i take him for granted. i am actually thankful for how difficult it was to bring him into our lives. it makes me appreciate his blessing so much more than i would have had it been easy for us.
sweet baby logan
i am thankful for my wonderful husband. we laugh more often than we cry. we have a wonderful life together. i wish i could say that i don't take him for granted. after 12 years together, i know i do. he is entertaining to say the least. i can't imagine life without him and i pray i never have to.

i am thankful for our kitty cat, oreo. whenever i need a hug, he is always there. he never interrupts me or judges me. he purrs and instantly makes me feel better. he always keeps an eye on things.
i am thankful for our life. our health. our jobs. our beautiful house.
i am thankful for our wonderful family and friends. without their love and support, we wouldn't have made it through the past few years. well, we would have made it through, but it wouldn't have been pretty.

today i am thankful for an injury-free turkey bowl.

i am thankful for good food.
i am thankful for good company.

Logan's First Tooth

i was busy vacuuming upstairs (thanksgiving this week our house) and when the noise drained out of my ears, i heard chris' voice requesting i come downstairs. much to my surprise, he asked me to feel inside logan's mouth. i did and felt logan's very first tooth! it's his bottom front. it finally decided to break through. poor baby has been fussy and drooling (more than usual) and sometimes his little cheeks get very pink. we were very excited and made a big deal about it with logan. he smiled and was as happy as could be. what a big boy!

Caught on Tape

i still have yet to see logan roll over with my own eyes. chris caught this on film awhile back so i thought i'd post it, more for myself to look at and believe he can actually roll over when he wants to.

rolling. . .

yes! see, i can do it!

Happy Birthday Auntie!

happy birthday auntie! it was amanda's birthday today! she turned 25 again! ha! ha! logan just loves his auntie and got to spend the day with her and his cousins. nathan was excited that "lowe's" got to come over and play today while i was at work. we all went out to red robin for dinner and back to chris and amanda's for pie afterwards. i think amanda enjoyed her birthday. thank you auntie amanda for all you do for us. we love you! (the picture above is with logan, for those of you who were thinking this was amanda after giving birth to emily with her infamous thumbs up pose)

Happy 4 Months Logan!

4 months have now passed since the arrival of our little logan. not a day goes by that i don't look at him in amazement. he prefers to suck his thumb and doesn't like pacifiers. he's been shrieking lately with excitement. he recognizes and smiles at familiar faces. every day i take a moment to stop what can be a hectic life and just stare into his innocent little eyes. today i admired his little elbows, cute indentations among puffy little arms. i am so thankful to finally hold my baby in my arms. he's more perfect than i ever imagined him to be. happy 4 months little man. we love you more than words can express.

this is tough

so. . . i'm almost done with my second week back at work and i have to admit. . . it's tougher than i thought it would be. no description from another mother can adequately put into words how unnatural it feels to leave your little baby while he sleeps in his crib, blissfully unaware his mama is quietly leaving the house. mondays are the worst. i have 4 straight days to spoil logan with hugs and kisses and then. . . monday arrives and i leave. today after work, i headed over to "taco tuesdays" (a tradition that began awhile ago, where the caveney's and the cory's meet at the tortilla factory for some yummy mexican food). i entered the restaurant and spotted amanda. logan was sitting in his stroller next to his auntie. i quickly headed over to the fam and looked down at logan. his face lit up with excitement. . . "MOMMY'S HERE!" that's the best part of my work week. coming home to him and watching his face light up.

who could resist this face?

Working Mom

this week was my first week back to work after an enjoyable maternity leave with my little one. i thought being a mom was tough enough. trying to balance motherhood with work and school is tough too. i wish i could stay home with logan all week. i wish i could spend every moment of every day with him. but that just can't happen right now. luckily, i'm smashing in my hours on monday, tuesday, and wednesday (working at least 10 hours a day) so i get to spend thursday and friday with logan. chris works from home on mondays and tuesdays so he'll be watching logan on those days. amanda and chris were nice enough to say they will watch him on wednesdays (which nate cory just loves). i'm fortunate to not have to drop him off with a stranger but it's still so hard to leave him. i'm glad my first week is over. it should only get easier right? we'll see. . .

btw. . . chris and i stood in line for 2 hours to vote on tuesday. logan waited with us. at least we met some new neighbors. . . what else you gonna do?

Welcome to the World, Emily!

our niece has arrived! emily rose cory was born today at 2:05 pm. she weighed in at 8 pounds, 14 ounces and 20 inches long; a petite baby by cory standards. amanda and emily are doing great. we stopped by earlier today with logan to meet his new cousin. he smiled at her immediately. nate was also very excited to see his new sister. nothing but sweet words to say. they get to come home tomorrow. we can't wait!
