baby logan

logan had his 10-month check up at the doctor's this morning. we had our usual doctor this time, who logan just loves! we do too. he measured 30 inches long (90th percentile). he weighs 21 pounds, 8 ounces (60th percentile). and his head measured in the 95th percentile. just like his mommy. ha. ha.

logan had his last shot (polio) and was tested for enemia (negative). the doctor was very impressed with his language and gross motor development. she did warn us that she predicts he'll start walking in the next 4-6 weeks since he stood for her almost entirely on his own.

the other night, logan imitated the word "baby" in the car. the very next morning, i was saying bye to him and i blew him kisses. he imitated me and blew them back to me. it was so sweet. such a happy boy. here are a few pictures from his latest picture people session. he went with cousins nate and emily. it was hilarious with 6 adults trying to get 3 kids to look and smile at the same time. good times.

over the weekend, chris went out with the boys to dave and buster's for my brother's birthday.  i relished in the few hours alone with loges.  after playing and spending some fun mother and son time, he tuckered out and took a nap.  i spent my time doing the usual cleaning up. sweeping.  done.  cleaning bottles.  done.  trash out.  yep.  move the laundry along.  check.  i just kept moving.  then i heard them.  the sound of gentle wind chimes dancing in the breeze.  it was my grammie's chimes.  the chimes i had inherited when she passed away a couple of years ago.  it was my one request.  her wind chimes.  i remember her best, sitting outside visiting when i would be in town.  just for a moment. talking outside with my mom and grammie.  with the wind chimes moving in the breeze.  i think of her each time i hear them.  now in my own home.

i made myself stop doing chores and enjoyed the moment.  i went outside to spend some time with my grammie.  it was so peaceful.  i sat alone.   i listened.  i knew she was there with me.  enjoying the bright spring day.  i miss her so much.  i often think of her in life's quiet moments. when logan is sleeping.  when i'm holding him asleep in my arms.  i can't help but wish she had met my precious logan.  but i know she watches over us.  he's had to fight so hard just to be here.  i appreciate that about loges.  his persistence.  i think grammie would have liked that about him too.  love and miss you grammie.

it's uncle chris' birthday today!  happy birthday uncle chris!  i can't believe my baby brother is 30.  when did that happen?  weren't we just playing cars together, building tracks and roads in the carpet in my parent's family room? weren't we just playing jcb service?  now we are back living in the same city (woohoo!) and raising our kids together.  where does the time go?  we are headed out to disneyland for the day to help him celebrate.  we love you uncle chris!!!  happy birthday bro!!!

9 months

logan's first easter

logan's first easter. i wanted it to be perfect. and it was.

on saturday, we headed over to the annual easter egg hunt at the harveston sports park. logan was too young to participate this year but it was fun to watch. we took a picture with the easter bunny there. we tried later in the day at the mall but logan was NOT having it. he latched onto me and cried. to be honest, the giant bunny was freaking me out too. he just sat there not moving for some reason. i think he was trying not to scare logan but he made it worse i think by not moving. ah well.

uncle chris, auntie amanda, cousins nate and emily, uncle pat and girlfriend jen (we call jen girlfriend jen because logan has a crush on her) all came over to our house for easter this past sunday. we all had a great time hanging out together. no pressure. no deadlines. no worries.

we ate appetizers and while we waited for dinner, we opened the kids gifts, dyed easter eggs, and had several easter egg hunts! after our delicious meal, we all took a nice walk around the lake. then we headed over to bob's big boy for desert!

what we've been up to . . .

i'm not quite sure why. . .but there has been a serious lapse in my blogging lately.  it didn't help that my computer entirely changed from a pc to a mac and that i didn't have access to my photos for some time.  i was distracted by studying for my bcba exam for a few weeks.  then i just lost momentum.  there are so many adventures i'd like to catch up on and blog about but i think it best to start in the present and recap later.

so. . .today.  i simply love my days with loges.

we were very busy today.  we did the wash.  emptied the dishwasher  we went to the bank.  the grocery store.  starbucks.  and to target.  we played.  loges napped.   we ate.  we laughed.  it was a good day.

tonight the cory's made a surprise appearance.  logan woke up from what i thought was the night.  he fell asleep again soon after they left.  i think he knew nate cory was in the house and didn't want to miss anything.

an update on logan.  he is 8 months.  he now has 7 teeth!  he tries very hard to say "mama" but it comes out sounding more as a raspberry and turns into a "mmm baa" sound instead.  he loves saying "baba" and many other sounds over and over.  he waves when anyone says "hi" or "bye" to him.  he also tries to snap when someone snaps.  it's pretty funny.  he just started saying the /s/ sound this past week.  he loves studying people's faces and is known to stare a bit too long when he meets a new one.  he crawls very quickly now (much to chris' dismay) and is now standing up on his own.  he actually stood up last night without holding onto anything for the first time.  i was alone with him when this happened.  overall, logan is loving life.  and we love his.
